18th Century Mirror
The restoration of this 18th Century Spanish wall mirror required the repair of damaged glass parts as well as the design and fabrication of missing elements. Crafted in the Rococo style, the mirror is surrounded by a gilt-wood inner border and a motif of solid-worked glass rosettes and leaves. With the client's direction, we created new leaves to replace those that were critically damaged or lost. For the missing rosettes, a new bronze press mold was fashioned to yield near identical reproductions. At the base of the mirror, two free-formed glass arms with blown candle cups were made to fit existing holes in the frame.
